Education Abroad Info Night: Puebla, Mexico

Students are invited to a Summer Study Abroad Information Night on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 5:30 p.m., in 234 Burrowes Building, to learn about the Spanish Language, Art, and Mexican Culture education abroad program in Puebla, Mexico.

Dispelling cultural stereotypes through immersion in the daily life of Mexico is the thrust of the summer program in Puebla. Studying the arts, culture, and history of central Mexico creates the context for the program. Living with carefully selected Mexican families helps Penn State students develop their language skills while experiencing firsthand the cultural treasures of Mexico. This nine-credit program offers students a unique, creative environment and exposure to a variety of experiences.

For more information, please visit the Puebla, Mexico program website.

Women's Studies Open House

The Department of Women's Studies encourages anyone who has interest in either a major or minor in WMNST to stop by the open house on Wednesday, January 25, 2013, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., in 118 Willard Building.

Students will have the opportunity to talk with faculty, current majors, and advisers. Students can learn more about choosing women's studies as a concurrent major; regardless of their future field, women's studies is where students can learn about the gender/diversity issues involved.  Any of the humanities fields are a great fit, as well as political science, economics--there is a field called feminist economics-- anthropology, sociology, criminology, psychology, and more.

For more information, please contact Mindy Boffemmyer at mub21@psu.edu or 814-865-5079.
