Penn State Hillel is the vibrant center for Jewish life on the Pennsylvania State University campus. Our team of professionals and students work together to provide outstanding religious, cultural, and social events to the students at Penn State. The Penn State Hillel communications and development interns are part of this team, helping to enrich the lives of Jewish students at Penn State while gaining valuable hands-on experience.
The Communications Intern will compile and maintain a current media list, develop press releases for Penn State Hillel events and initiatives, monitor press materials (including a clip book), design and write enewsletters to varies audiences using Constant Contact (no previous experience required), create Penn State Hillel promotional materials, including a media and press kit, positively promote Penn State Hillel to the Penn State community and to other communities through outreach efforts, work with graphic design intern to write the annual Penn State Hillel newsletter, develop a Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel brochure, and complete other projects as assigned. The intern will gain experience in graphic design and writing and have items for a portfolio.
Communications Intern Qualifications: Graphic design skills, significant experience with photoshop and similar programs, and excellent writing skills are required. Applicants should be detail-oriented and well-organized.
The Development Intern will coordinate, manage, and supervise annual phonathons, maintain prospective donor information packets and development calendar, assist director of development in obtaining grants from foundations, work with the director of development and relevant partners at Penn State in strategic planning and analysis of development program, assist in the planning and staffing of events, coordinate direct mail appeals, and complete other projects as assigned. The intern will have the opportunity to display his or her writing abilities and will have sample work at the close of the internship.
Development Intern Qualifications: Student should have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, excellent writing skills, and an interest in nonprofit, development or fundraising work.
